Al Fogher

Piazza Armerina · 1992

For over thirty years, our home has been yours.

Our story

Since 1992, the signature of Angelo Treno

Angelo Treno set out to bring to the Sicilian hinterland, his native land, a sensory experience that would embrace not only the diner but elevate the land itself, bringing out its qualities and its contradictions.

His cooking draws its roots directly from his memories… like the Herring Salad… brought home on Sundays by his farmer father, whenever it was possible, and prepared with care by his mother's hands. Food became communication — silent, yet charged with feeling.

Thirty years on, the railway house is still a place of passage. Only now, it invites you to stay.

Sous Chef

Niccolò Treno

In the kitchen beside him — after years spent in the finest restaurants in Italy and abroad — is his son, Niccolò… Different minds, different souls, the same heart.

Hands on the ingredients, the rhythm of service: two generations that clash and learn to live together, to look to the future. The care for detail no longer has just two eyes, but four — the tradition continues.

Who we are

One family, one table

Behind every service is the Treno family. In the kitchen, in the dining room, in the cellar: the same people, every day, for over thirty years.

That is the meaning of the name. "Al Fogher" evokes the hearth — the fire people gather around. Those who come to us are, to us, guests in our home.

The cellar

A search thirty years in the making

This is knowledge, the tenacity of the search, the intimate accord between plate and glass that Chef Angelo Treno has built over the decades — a perfect synthesis of culture, travel and experience.

The spaces

Our dining rooms

A former railway house among the hills: intimate rooms, well-spaced tables and a terrace that looks out over the garden in summer.

  • Dining room with a pale wooden beamed ceiling, a masonry fireplace at the back and round tables laid with white linen and pale blue glasses.
  • Terrace under the pergola: round glass-topped tables and wrought iron chairs against a wall of ivy.
  • A laid table against the wall, beneath a painted country landscape and a shelf of Sicilian ceramics.
  • Inner dining room with a glass cabinet, a wooden sideboard and a round table laid under the warm light of the wall lamps.
  • Table detail: a wine glass and a pale blue tumbler backlit, as a hand sets the place.

  • Al Fogher was a lovely surprise. The chef, who is at the helm of the restaurant, and his wife create cooking you can only call authentic. It's delicious, fresh and prepared with real skill! True Sicilian cuisine!

  • A real gem, listed in the Michelin guide, serving Italian cuisine with local produce and the refinement of French-style fine dining.

  • The food is outstanding, with very well-balanced flavours. The restaurant was recommended to us by a local tourist guide, which we really appreciated; my husband and I had a wonderful experience.
